What we do
Import Detroit is an independent website about Detroit and Michigan. We publish trip plans, date-night guides, neighborhood guides, game-day guides and gift guides for people who live here, people visiting, and people who moved away and miss it.
We’re not a store and we don’t make products. When we recommend something you can buy or book, we link to the place that sells it: the restaurant or venue itself, Viator for tours, Expedia for hotels, Amazon or the maker’s own shop for gifts.
How we research
Every named place, address, schedule and price gets checked against the business’s own website or the booking listing before it goes up, and prices carry the date we checked them (“as of Oct 2026”). If we can’t confirm something, we leave it out. We don’t publish star ratings, review counts or testimonials we didn’t collect ourselves.
We use AI tools to help with research and drafting. Every post is edited and fact-checked before it’s published, and we update or merge guides when things change. Many of our photos are AI-generated illustrations, and they’re labeled “AI illustration” on the image.
