A Tigers game is already a good evening. But a Tigers date night — the kind where you build the whole evening around it — is worth the extra planning. Comerica Park is one of the better MLB experiences in the league, and Downtown Detroit has enough good restaurants and bars nearby that the ballpark is a destination, not just a stadium trip.

How to Plan Your Detroit Tigers Date Night
Step 1: Get Tickets That Make Sense
Comerica Park seats 41,000. Most games have tickets available day-of, but you’ll pay a premium. Buy in advance through SeatGeek — the Deal Score feature flags tickets priced below market, which matters on weekends and for marquee matchups (Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs are the games where prices spike).
Best seats for a date:
- Field Box (sections 114–136) — Close to the action, good sightlines, the atmosphere is real. Runs $45–$90 per seat depending on opponent.
- Club Level — Air-conditioned, upscale concessions, less chaotic. Better for a date that’s more “event” than “sport.” Runs $80–$160.
- Bleachers in left field — Cheap, loud, fun if your date is into it. Not the move for a quiet evening.
Midweek games are significantly cheaper and less crowded than weekends — same ballpark, same team, lower prices and shorter concession lines.

The Full Evening: Hour by Hour
6:00 PM — Dinner in Corktown
Corktown is 10 minutes from Comerica Park and the best pregame neighborhood in Detroit. Batch Brewing Company on Michigan Ave is the low-key call — solid food, great craft beer, no fuss. Takoi is the elevated option: Southeast Asian small plates, intentional cocktails, one of the better dinner spots in the city. If you want a full steakhouse situation, Prime + Proper in Downtown is 5 minutes from the park and the nicest restaurant in walking distance of the ballpark.

Gates open 90 minutes before first pitch. Get there early enough to walk the park — the Comerica tiger statues, the Ferris wheel in the outfield, the view of the Detroit skyline from the upper deck. It’s a good ballpark to actually see before the game starts.
First pitch is typically 6:40 PM for day games, 7:10 PM for evening games. Check the schedule — twilight games (5–6 PM first pitch) can catch you off guard if you planned for a 7 PM start.
During the Game — Where to Eat Inside
Comerica’s concessions are better than average. The must-try: Buddy’s Pizza has a stand inside — Detroit-style square pizza, which you should eat at least once if you’ve never had it. Lafayette Coney Island is represented too. For drinks, the craft beer stands behind the first base line have local Michigan options.
10:00 PM — After the Game
If it’s a weeknight, Greektown is the easiest postgame stop — 5 minutes from the park, open late. Pegasus Taverna stays open after games and the late-night crowd there is worth experiencing.
If it’s a weekend, Midtown has more life after 10 PM. Chartreuse Kitchen & Cocktails in the Midtown Selden area is a 10-minute Uber — upscale cocktails, the right vibe for wrapping up a real date night.
Where to Stay If You’re Making It a Full Night
Comerica Park is Downtown Detroit. If you’re staying overnight, these are the best options within walking distance or a short Uber:
- Westin Book Cadillac — Historic grande dame hotel, 10-minute walk from the park. The best hotel in Detroit for a special occasion. Worth the splurge.
- Greektown Casino-Hotel — Convenient, affordable on game nights relative to other options, right next to Greektown. Straightforward choice.
- The Siren Hotel — Boutique hotel in the Wurlitzer Building in downtown. Smaller, more design-forward. Good pick for a date who appreciates that kind of thing.
- MotorCity Casino Hotel — 10-minute Uber from the park, rates are often better than downtown hotels on game nights. Has a pool.

What to Wear
